Commemorative & Souvenir Plates

The September lobby exhibit of commemorative, souvenir, and advertising plates is from the collection of Prairie Museum of Art and History.

Commemorative, souvenir, and advertising plates have been popular collector items for many decades. Most of these plates are very artistic and decorative. Early advertising plates were not glazed over the art and business name. With continued use and washing the art & pringing would fade or scratch. Modern souvenir and commemorative plates use an improved glazing process to make them much more durable.
