Stemware

The lobby exhibit for the month of January is stemware from the Prairie Museum of Art and History collection.

Stemware is drinkware that stands on stems above a base. The stem allows the drinker to hold the glass without affecting the temperature of the drink it contains.

It is usually made of glass, but is sometimes made from ceramics or metals. Stemware drinking vessels come in a variety of sizes and shapes. They may be clear or colored. Patterns are frequently etched, pressed, or cut into the glassware.
